Tell about yourself a little bit… How did you become a photographer?

My tale starts some time ago in Brussels, Belgium. I was born to a beautiful Brazilian Mother and a smart yet witty Peruvian Father. Because of this, some like to joke that I was born everywhere. I like to believe it just adds to the mystery of Antonio Perez.

Around the tender age of two, we decided to move to Canada for a brighter future and 5 months of cold. My family has lived in various locations, yet Montreal has always been our homestead.

As a kid I would get lost dreaming, especially while reading National Geographic. Those visual stories had the power to transport me to faraway lands and sparked my imagination every month when we received the newest issue. What was within those pages mattered, whether they were bringing attention to conflicts or simply showcasing how beautiful our world could be.

Reading those magazines I dreamt of one day becoming a photographer, and now in my work, I get to realize that dream.
