Beverly Lindorff: Alberta Wild

Alberta Wild is a visual invitation to explore the province’s diverse landscape and wildlife.

As a conservation photographer raised in Alberta, with the Rocky Mountains as my backyard, I’ve been fortunate to develop an intimate relationship with the landscape and the wildlife that inhabits it.

From moments immersed in nature, where shafts of sunlight filter through the trees, to encounters locking eyes with bears, bison, coyotes, and owls, I’ve become a passionate advocate for the protection of Alberta’s wildlife and ecosystems.

Of the thirteen locations in Canada designated by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites in recognition of their outstanding value to humanity, five are found in Alberta: Banff and Jasper National Parks, Waterton National Park, Wood Buffalo National Park, Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, and Dinosaur Provincial Park.

Alberta boasts over 600 lakes and is home to more than 60,000 wild species, including 438 bird species. As diverse as its wildlife is, so are its breathtaking landscapes, from the Rocky Mountains to the boreal forest, prairies, and badlands.
