Bruno Trematore: In Limbo (Jet Lag)
The photo series “In Limbo (Jet Lag)” dives into the raw experience of relentless long-distance travel. As a frequent flyer for work, I’ve become all too familiar with the unease that defines this lifestyle. Through my photography, I want to reveal the gritty emotions and sensations that arise during these journeys.
Transmeridian travel can be a grueling ordeal—a haze of exhaustion, disorientation, and claustrophobia. The grind of waking up, enduring a 20-hour flight, crashing in a new timezone for a few days, and then repeating the cycle back home drove me to introspection.
Instead of picturesque destinations, I focused inward, capturing the stark reality of travel itself: squeezed into shrinking economy seats, fighting to stay awake at airports, and juggling coffee, alcohol, and sleep aids to survive the trip. This series is a raw look at airplanes, airports, and the liminal spaces between.
I aim to pull viewers into these transient moments, making them feel the weariness, uncertainty, and longing of life caught between time zones and continents.
