Elsa Arrais: It’s all about summer

Born and raised in Portugal where the sun shines during the long summer days, it always meant time with family, friends, the beach, the riverside or traveling by the water. 

Last few years I have been chasing that kind of ambience with my camera. Pursuing memories by registering the present moment. 

I aim to share stories and induce emotions even in the absence of expressive faces, evoking the shyness that takes me hide behind lenses. 

Those inmost memories of the salty water in my skin emerge from a clear design and strong contrast in black and white, the visual sea where I like to dive and swim. 

This series includes some works that may already be seen on my social media and also some unpublished works. 

It was selected specially for this purpose and reflects the joy, the discoveries, the adventures, as well as the quiet and calmness that summer brings us. 

I hope you may feel those late hot afternoons through my eyes.
