Etienne Regis: 31ème rue

Etienne Regis captures Human in the city of Toulouse.

A passion that makes him walk the streets of Toulouse in search of the image : the one that sparkles his mind, the one that will sometimes push him to follow a person, waiting for the right gesture, the right angle and the right light.

“What I like above all in street photography, is showing Human in the city”, specifies Etienne Regis.

“As soon as I know what I want to do, I can wait up to 20 minutes, for the right person who will pass by the right place. Sometimes it’s more spontaneous and photos are taken on the spot”.

Lines, colors, forms, hats, clothes, glasses, reflections… Everything can become a good subject with the good angle and the good light.

Toulouse is his playground, people are their own actors, their forms are their shadows. Be aware, sometimes second reading is needed to find an amazing detail.

Show what the eye does not see, thanks to the camera, especially on the strong light differences.

We call this the principle of dynamics: it is the difference in light perceptible by a sensitive surface. Here, the eye VS the camera sensor.

The goal is to use this difference to highlight another reality, far from our daily vision, and allow the viewers to open up and learn to observe their surroundings differently.
