Gabriele Zukauskaite: Ambivalence

“Ambivalence” is a series of disconnected images that coalesce into a dreamlike framework, capturing the fringes of consciousness our waking minds often fail to process. These visuals have neither beginning, nor ending, they compress glimpses into the folds where time collapses. The faces and places you are looking at tend to lurk in the shadows of a time unnoticed, like Wednesday noon – a place where only those whose lives defy capitalist routines become fully present and take up original shapes, revealing an alternate rhythm of existence. This series explore these in-between moments, inviting viewers to see the world from an internal angle. It’s a visual representation of the tension between perception and the unseen, finding beauty and meaning in fragile, unpredictable ruptures, the overlooked, and the ambiguous. These images are my way of forgetting and remembering the strangeness of our world, a manufactured, unknown truth born from the eye of the beholder.
