Jean-Philippe Combeau: Être un autre

We all have complex personalities bound to our own body, we often long for a different life and want to become a different person. Photography allows us to be in someone else’s shoes for a few hours, in order to express another side of ourselves.

As a portrait photographer, I like to capture models who are usually introverted in their everyday lives. Because when they appear in front of the lens, they can give off different, unexplored energies.

Lifestyle male photography is often poorly regarded compared to « reportage » or « social » style portraiture, but it is a beautiful way to bring out the unheard-of facets of each model’s personality. It can highlight their sensitivity, their passions or their desires. Putting the body forward to free the mind and embrace a part of oneself : this is the goal of my photography.

I am a French photographer who likes sober and simple poses, clear images and rigorous framing.
