Tenerife Horse rescue is a NGO non government funded charity.
Their aim is to offer homes to all equines who need a second chance. Horses are their main focus, but they didn’t stop here. Their animal sanctuary has a huge array of abandoned animals, all rescued from the island. For example, dogs and cats, birds, ducks, guinea pigs, goats, pigs, tortoises, hamsters and more.
Sustainability is their way of living. All the electricity is solar, they heat the water system pipes using horse manure, they turn all the waste food to compost, eat ‘freegan’ and they are entirely built from recycled materials and clay.
I lived here for a period of my life and this definitely changed it. It allowed me to discover this new side of mine, now much more aware of sustainability rather than consumerism.
Thanks to them I had the opportunity to truly live in contact with nature, discovering the beauty of this simplicity.
