I strive to merge the architectural, urban, and human elements of Miami’s cityscape and encourage viewers to reflect on this visual collage. My goal is to motivate them to contemplate our everyday experiences as residents and commuters.
Similar to other locations I’ve photographed, this city is undergoing significant transformation and gentrification, replacing familiar landmarks and cultural references with generic, “modern,” uniform designs that are becoming more prevalent in urban areas.
Additionally, Miami is often depicted as a stereotypical, colorful, touristy destination that does not fully capture the city’s diverse and vibrant urban culture. I aim to raise awareness about the many overlooked aspects of the city.
My street photography work extensively uses film, and I am inspired by the aesthetics of Vivian Maier, Garry Winogrand, and Anton Corbijn.
