36-year-old director and photographer Christian Sachs a.k.a. Visual Tramp grew up in southern Germany.
The proximity to France, Switzerland and the black forest provided a multicultural source of inspiration in his media work early on. On the one hand, he regularly visits France’s city Strasbourg, which he publishes in numerous pictures on Instagram and on the other hand, it is the area of his hometown Offenburg, located right in front of the Black Forest, which he repeatedly features in his pictures. Always looking for the fluid transition between both worlds: urban landscapes captured in timeless black and white.
Sachs studied media communication and has been working in the field of film production with a focus on corporate storytelling since completing his studies. His company Creative Unit GmbH, based in Offenburg, produces authentic corporate films and fictional streaming formats for companies and television.
Photography is a source of inspiration, it keeps him creative and provides the necessary balance in everyday life. In contrast to the complexity in filmmaking, he attaches great importance to reduction in photography. The passionate hiker usually walks the streets with just with a Leica M and one 35mm lens. To make fewer technical decisions on location gives him the freedom to completely lose himself in the moment.
His New York series was created in 2019 on the occasion of his engagement trip.
