Filip Blagojevic – We Are Still Searching

This project emerged spontaneously as I revisited my archive of analogue photographs taken over the past year and a half. It became clear to me that there were interesting examples I could pair together. Although the photos were mostly taken at different times and in different places, there are still connections in terms of atmosphere, similar surroundings, movement, or colors. These motifs were mostly combined and juxtaposed by observing certain details, but I attempted to use my inner voice as much as possible to create a narrative thread that would connect the project through the visual analysis of hundreds of photographs. Photography is an incredibly important and creative medium for me, weaving through my everyday life, giving me the opportunity to perceive life with open eyes and greater intensity. And through various profound experiences, the moments can be immortalized, even if the photograph is only behind camera as a witness and indirectly protagonist. I still have in my mind photographs of my girlfriend with blueberries in her hands from 2023 and similar hand movements of my grandmother from this year…Also, the white Belvedere Palace in Vienna, standing firmly on the left side of the photograph, corresponds to the gloomy clouds of late autumn, while in the next photograph, on the left side again, we see a fragile figure in white, also placed in a dark and gloomy atmosphere under the spotlight. Those are the moments I want to capture day by day and be a witness to interesting, dramatic, and sometimes funny scenes that in some way repeat themselves, enough for us to read into them symbols of past events.
