Giorgia Natella: Express yourself through your body

I believe in photography as a capture of feelings, of something ephemeral that through an image can be treasured and kept safe forever. Time won’t change it, whether it is an emotion awoken by a place, or a person. I take my inspiration from my travels, the constant learning from a new culture, new energies, new colours, or a new sunset. Those are the moments in which I stop and allow myself to just feel, breath. Because to simply be, sometimes, it’s enough. I let all those sensations sink in and paint that moment into a photograph, with the idea that it could also help someone else find their own connection to those lines and colours. I am attracted to the uniqueness of human beings, and through my vision I aim to empower them and build a safe environment to feel free to express. I then turn this into art to make them feel understood and celebrated. I find fascinating the moment in which people let their guard down and open up to explore a world within themselves that they haven’t taken the time to observe before. As a photographer, there’s nothing more powerful than being part of someone’s process in becoming more self-aware and fearlessly show their vulnerability. We are constantly expressing something, even when we are silent, even without realising it. Often, the most difficult part is to communicate with others and, not less important, with ourselves. That’s the key to freedom and the next step towards personal growth. Find your inner place, let go of what hurts, recognise what gives you happiness, have the pleasure to meet yourself.
