It makes me think of the beginning of something new, represented by a girl who ventures into an unknown and mysterious world. Accompanied by the sky and the river, she finds a place that allows her to heal and face her fears. The landscapes guide her in her impatient search, facing questions about her destiny and decisions. Beginnings, like new opportunities, imply courage. The figure of the girl symbolizes a determined and curious presence, seeking to grow and abandon fear, making mistakes along the way. The river, the dreamlike environment, and the black and white contrast highlight the duality between the earthly and the spiritual. The sun and the darkness reflect her courage and determination on a promising but uncertain path that promises care and growth.

“IKAM” is a photographic project created by Luis Barzola that alludes to the advent of a hidden and unknown world, yet one that is also close. Over the years, he has been able to contemplate the beauty of the jungle while traversing its immeasurable river. The peace it provides has made him ponder the mystery that lies within its density. Moreover, every element in this area, its trees, people, and animals, emanates a unique feeling that he has tried to capture in these photographs.

In this project, an encounter with solitude is explored through a journey in the jungle, which emerges as an unknown yet familiar world. The solitude, which persists upon arriving in a new place, manifests as a profound spiritual experience with oneself. However, this solitude can become an armor that limits us, suffocating our actions in the present and making us feel trapped. On the other hand, this isolation can transform into a source of strength and renewed action by recognizing ourselves. This journey invites us to explore both possibilities, confronting the duality of solitude as it imprisons or frees us, as something that can either drown us or care for us. It is a path of care and growth.
