Marta Fabris

I am Italian and I live in Padua. I am a mother of a girl and a boy and I have been teaching mathematics for more than 30 years, living among numbers and rules which have given me so much and which have strongly shaped my mind. I have always liked telling stories of all genres, ever since I played with my children. New adventures materialized in my head asking for their space…. I recently approached photography, discovering with enthusiasm a new, wonderful way of communication. With photography my creative side has emerged, free: I interpret light, I express emotions, I tell stories… I like to play with lights and shadows, which recall life situations in its beauty and drama. The protagonists of my shots are people and their moments of life, sometimes intense, sometimes simple. The city is told with the movement of its inhabitants, in shots with a photographic language that varies in techniques depending on the intensity and destination of the message. As in class with my students, with whom I change the language depending on the recipient, I like to change the style of the photo, because each story requires a different setting and has a different observer. With photography I tell the love for life. When I have trouble falling asleep, I imagine moving through new images, encountering figures that become more familiar each time. Those scenes are part of a single great narrative, they are part of our existence and I then try to transform them into moments with my beloved camera. It is difficult to find a passion in adulthood, often the enthusiasm for things – I call it the childish soul – fades away or one only continues on the path cultivated for an entire life… My story invites you to never stop in front of a project and to listen to your emotions.
